RHTWEH FC had an early New Year celebration with a convincing victory. They played some good football with fluent tactical moves. It was a good sign that players were patient, creative, keen to have off the ball runs, and had the confidence to use the ball. Impressive.

I expect zero disagreement if I propose to grant the man of the match award to our hat trick scorer Perry. His decent dribbles repeatedly danced through defensing players and he was always a threat when processing the ball. Wow, lucky man, it's your time!

It was undoubtedly a difficult task to defend our friend Hei and his comrades. The defence department did a good job today to minimize our loss at the back.

Pierre unfortunately picked up a calf injury which might keep him on the sidelines for a few weeks. Hopefully the team can keep on this winning streak to welcome back "Erre Gor".

Player Manager Woo ended his scoring drought by an injury time close range finish. His poor form continued after a series of injuries, virus, bugs etc. More games and intensive training needed.

Players joined, players left. The true soccer-holics may have left the workplace, yet they are still actively playing in the team. This is the wonder of football. Amazing. See you all in 2011. Happy New Year.

HKMA 90th Anniversary Football Cup, RH Friends 組隊參賽，這回加入了新力軍 Pierre，廣華 Kevin，廣華鋼門，Chan HC，加上原有老將，實力有增無減，奈何局限於細小的場地，短促的賽程，第一圈四仗皆和，零失球，零入球，遺憾出局。話雖如此，其實聯隊踢得不錯，各隊友各司其職，面對傳統強隊如 Big Nines，CU Alumni，⼀點也不輸洩，反而佔盡上風，只是欠缺了一些運氣，多球中柱高出，否則必可再進一步，惟有下次再接再勵。

I realized that this was the last game of the season on my way home. This might be a good win with quality, courage and determination, which served as a nice conclusion of the season.
The boring world cup games obviously annoyed our players and they responded by demonstrating the aggression and hunger to win. We had so many players on target tonight. I could hardly remember every goal after that slap on my left ear. Please correct me.

With many of our players unavailable, we saw no chance of winning.
We were two down very soon after kick off. Willie's brilliant saves prevented further loss at the expense of a finger injury. Good luck and get well soon Willie.
The introduction of a super sub proved to be the turning point. CK Chu, the former Hong Kong international midfielder, functioned as a play-maker for us. He inspired the team, and in particular, KC.
KC's spectacular dribble was concluded by a breathe-taking shot. Woo's off the ball run did help creating space for the make up of this vital first goal.
Lone striker Woo's below par performance might probably be related to the minor head injury in the opening stage of the game, which reminded him of his horrible nightmare in 2005.
Yuen's far post shot regained him the reputation as a reliable scorer. Had it been a few inches wide, it would be another disaster.
Difficult game, lucky to get a draw.

There is no sure win in football. If you think that way, you'll be punished.

We were very closed, to be punished, I mean.

The CU Medic 94 Woo-Kevin combination has established their partnership from the soil of Chung Chi Football field since 1988. Kevin's intention to cross his corner kick to near post was well read by Woo, whose header was just too powerful to be parried by the goal keeper.

The match wasn't that easy though. The visiting team played with patience and controlled the midfield. Chance after chance, they eventually pulled level with a nice mid range shot.

But Yuen, Woo and Alwin, who have teamed up for more than 10 years, demonstrated another attacking masterpiece. Alwin passed the ball to Woo and ghosted into the box. Yuen cleared the path for him with a decent run to the left. Woo controlled the ball well and fed Alwin with a clear through ball. Alwin's shot might have been partially blocked and deflected by the goalie, but with the protection of Yuen, it went in.

Exhaustion was the main theme in the last 30 minutes. After all we only had nine. But concentration, determination and once again partnership, this time in the defence department, comprising of KC, Keung, FuSee, WM and Willie, did the compensation.

We had two different teams here.

Young, well trained and organised visitors faced the mature, experienced but energetic hosts.

Football is just the kind of sport that an advantage on the team's average age is not always tale telling.

Woo, arriving late, equalised the one goal deficit with a well timed right footed drive. Yuen and Kevin were so closed to score the winner, but for one reason and another, the job was eventually done by Captain Alwin, whose thunder-strike found the net at the very far post just before the final whistle was blown.

Maturity won. Good job comrades!!

It may well be a comfortable victory, but still, there are quite a bit of talking points. Manager Woo, playing as the target man, forbade himself from using headers because of a recent neck sprain. But it was the team's aerial force that marked the breakthrough. Ka Wai simply won everything in the air, both upfront and in rearguard. He headed a brace by two set pieces. Kevin, whom I have known since 1988, scored by his well timed header for the very first time, thanking to Ka Wai's decent cross. The defensive efficacy is well reflected by the clean sheet on the scoreboard. The work rate of WM Leung was eye-catching, giving zero chance to the opponents.

A well deserved win.

This is for sure not the best performance by RHTWEH FC, but we did have some good tactical moves and play some good football. A deflected shot once again turned out to be the decisive point of our semi-final defeat. It is something I don't want to admit, but, is it some kind of "destiny"?

Playing with his 5 inches thick coat, he celebrated his debut with a goal.
Dribbling round, round and round, the words to Perry are "charm, charm, charm"!
Scoring drought, too long for Bong. With some luck, he did the job.
Backbone reformed, Ka Wai and Oliver both looked strong.
Running, tackling, passing, shooting, we all looked in good form. Yet.....
Frustration governed Captain Alwin, he didn't settle on the pitch.

It may be too difficult to get a result from a full team Yau Luen, with a few of our own key players missing. But I am proud of all teammates when I saw the guys normally dressed in white coat somehow physically matched a team comprising of well trained armed force. We might have made some errors, both in defence and attack, we might have given away the ball too easily, or we might lack a bit of concentration, and that cost us the game. But I saw excellent sportsmanship from all of us, just played fair, and enjoyed football. We lost a game, but performance-wise we are not too bad, well, pretty good actually.
