Hei’s brace made the difference

RHTWEH FC 3
Mak's invitation team 2

The exciting score line may not reflect the true flow of the match. Humid and hot night, the typical Hong Kong Summer night should not be the excuse. The culprit may be the absence of the likes of star players of captain Alwin, Theo-Walcott-Pierre, Eddy and Bonchu. Oh yes! I nearly forgot to tell my comeback from R knee Osteochondral Defect, though yet to reach my usual form.

Like the thinking of Cheong, I try to inject some fresh blood into the team by asking my elder son, Jeff, to come. He did make passes, dribbles, progression and even the assist of Ronald’s opening goal. But his physical fitness needed improvement.

Our opening goal was that of the classic counter-attack type. We made low passes to the right wing where Jeff crossed the ball to Ronald. Treating the shot as serious as his ICU work, their goalie could only find the ball at the back of the net. They leveled the score line by a long ranged lobbed shot. Hei replied by a typical turn-around the keeper goal to let us lead again.

Looking at Hei’s happiness of turning around their GK, Kevin wanted to share the joy by duplicating the action. However, his too-heavy last touch accelerated the ball across the goalmouth made him no chance of reaching it again. But this was a good effort. A comeback with a goal was always nice. YUEN thus tried his luck for a few times but all were denied by their late-arrived quality goalie. Hope he will make it next match.

Drama came near the end. A quick player with lower leg tattoo gave us much threat of our defence before shooting the target outside the area. A draw was expected and both sides looked satisfied. However, Hei asked for more than that. Deep into the stoppage time, Hei made an excellent low shot outside the area to the left low corner making the goalie no chance to reach.

2 additional points needs to be noted. Our defence by Cheong and Lung was very solid and the working efficiency of KC made him the potential star playmaker in our team. At the “National Level”, KC will make his debut in the HKEC team this season and we all wish him good luck!
